Delphi
Enterprise Learning Optimizes Employee Engagement
Situation
Delphi separated from General Motors Corporation and had no training system in place to serve the needs of its 18,000 salaried employees.
Solution
Learning Designs partnered with Kettering University and RWD Technologies to form Sigma Learning, LLC, an organization designed to provide Delphi with an integrated training and education system that would serve its global employee base.

From 2001 to 2008, Sigma Learning provided administrative support, instructional design, and delivery of both instructor-led and web-based training. It also offered maintenance of an on-line training catalog that included courseware intended to support both general and function-specific Delphi competencies.

In addition to supporting a general competency-based system for all Delphi employees, Learning Designs assisted in the development of new Delphi competencies for leadership and sales.

The purpose of these projects was to 1) define leadership competencies/skills required for the future organization, and 2) define sales competencies/skills required by current and future leadership to fulfill new roles in the organization.

By defining these competencies, Delphi has the ability to identify high-potential candidates for future leadership positions and to provide needed training for current leadership personnel.

Outcome
This robust system offers HR leadership and training coordinators one centralized point of contact to communicate, launch and monitor training and learning programs. Administrative deliverables are streamlined. Expenses related to off-site training initiatives are radically reduced or eliminated. Information is standardized and immediately updatable. Employee training effectiveness is measurably enhanced, delivering an impressive ROI.
